Our Special Adventure

I am very very very excited to share with you all that Rob and I are going to Ayers Rock!!!!

I have been researching, dreaming and planning this trip for a month now and it was going to be a surprise for Rob for his Christmas present! I knew that this was one place he has wanted to visit as an adult so I thought I would surprise him and book our special adventure! My plan was to book the holiday and then buy him a 'fly hat' and put a card on it and leave it under the tree! I couldn't do it though! I had to tell him on Saturday! I wanted to share the excitement and the butterflies and my plans with him so we could share the experience together! I think the best part about a holiday is the weeks leading up to it and the anxious waiting! I think I did pretty well keeping it from him this long hehe He was over the moon and is so super excited about going!

We have had a tough year and Rob has had an even tougher one! I wanted this trip to be special for him. I wanted to thank him and show him that everything that he does for me, our family and our future never goes un-noticed! He works so hard my Rob. He is one of those special people that you come across every now and then who always puts a smile on your face with his genuine, outgoing and passionate view on life. He puts in 200% into everything he does and loves, supports and protects everyone he knows! He has such a special and unique soul and words can't describe how much I am thankful for having him in my life and for loving and protecting and creating a future for me and our family.

No words or presents could thank him but hopefully this adventure will allow him to have a break, get out in his element, explore the beautiful outback, unwind from a crappy year and celebrate the next!

A few special adventures we are goign on...

KATA TJUTA VALLEY OF THE WINDS TOUR

From Uluru to Kata Tjuta (Olgas).
This afternoon your guide will escort you on a 2 to 3 hours walk through the Kata Tjuta domes to the Valley of the Winds lookout. The walking path is rocky, and requires a good level of fitness. After the walk, take in a magnificent “outback” sunset over Kata Tjuta. Refresh yourself with a glass of sparkling wine and nibbles.

ONE DAY KINGS CANYON TOUR

Travel from Ayers Rock Resort to Kings Canyon Resort, stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (own expense). Make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon for marvelous views of Watarrka National Park. The climb may take up to three hours and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. After lunch (own expense), we make our way back to Ayers Rock Resort.
Note: During the hotter months of the year temperatures can reach and exceed 36C. In this drier desert climate, heat exhaustion is a very high possibility. There is the alternative to take the guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed as an alternative if it is too hot to climb.

ULURU SUNRISE & CLIMB TOUR

From Ayers Rock Resort to Uluru. Travel to the sunrise viewing area and watch the first sunlight of the day creep across the desert plains and Uluru whilst enjoying a warming cup of tea, coffee or milo and biscuits. Commence the climb to the top of the monolith, for spectacular views. The climb takes about two hours and is recommended for those with a good level of fitness. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, a sun hat and carry plenty of water. Alternatively, non-climbers can choose to take a peaceful stroll along the Mala walk. The Mala Walk winds itself among the bloodwood trees alongside Uluru. It leads to the magnificent Kantju Gorge, a 90 metre drop that becomes an amazing sight when there is enough rain to create a waterfall.

SOUNDS OF SILENCE DINNER

From Ayers Rock Resort to Sounds of Silence Site, entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence offers the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours. This is an unforgettable evening, eating beautifully prepared food under the sparkling outback sky. Your journey begins on a lone sand dune. A meandering path takes you to an uninterrupted, three hundred and sixty degree view of this vast landscape. In front of you is the fabled Uluru; behind you are the domes of Kata Tjuta and, possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here you enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapés. As the sun sets in a blaze of reds and oranges, and well into the starlit night, you feast on a gourmet barbecue buffet of authentic Australian delicacies including barramundi, kangaroo, emu, crocodile, bush salads and classic desserts, complemented by some of Australia’s finest wines. Attention then turns to some of the world’s best stargazing, as our resident astronomer takes you on an unforgettable tour of the spectacular southern night sky. As you wind down after a delicious dinner, you are offered a choice of tea, coffee or port.

I am so excited about experiencing and exploring these wonderful places with my love and I know that this will be a holiday that we will never forget!

Week-a-Boo

Happy Sunday to you all! One week until Christmas! Can you believe it! 5 working days and then it is on! I just can not believe how fast this year, this month, this day has gone! Time is just flying by so fast I can hardly catch my breath! It's quite scary actually! In 2 weeks time we will be saying goodbye to 2010 and welcoming 2011! WOAH!

On Thursday and Friday leading up to the weekend the kids that I work with came over for a sleep over. It is always so much fun for the kids to come to my house as it is so different to their everyday lives. They are city kids through and through so they love coming and playing with all the animals, collecting the chickens eggs, swimming in the pool, playing in the front yard and going to the local park. This time I thought I would do something different and we went to the local strawberry farm. Strawberries are not in season so we could not pick them but they have a very cute little petting zoo were you can feed the goats, calves and sheep. the kids had a ball and loved playing with the farm animals.

~ We brought our mattress into the lounge room so that the kids and I could camp out beside the Christmas tree and have a Christmas sleepover ~

~ The cutest little calf that was so friendly ~

~ Delicious Strawberry Jelly with Strawberry pieces throughout and fresh Strawberry jam from the farm ~

On Saturday I slept until ONE THIRTY in the afternoon Oh My Goodness! I couldn't believe it when I woke up and looked at my clock! In my defense I didn't go to sleep until after midnight Friday night and Thursday night when the kids stayed over I didn't sleep much at all as I was waking up every hour just checking on the kids! SO I definitely needed the few extra hours hahah I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning and washing and catching up on all the house chores that didn't get done while I was away for work!

Today - Sunday I had a beautiful celebration with my close friends and Robs and my parents for my birthday. We were suppose to go to the park and have a picnic but last night I made an executive decision and canceled the park and booked a few tables at the local pub. This morning I awoke to rain rain rain so I am glad I made that final decision.

A beautiful day spent with my very special family and my closest friends! A perfect lunch to end the celebrations of turning 25! What an amazing birthday I have had!!!

Enjoy this week leading up to Christmas! We are almost there :-)
Head over to Claires gorgeous blog and share your weekend with us all!

It's Snowing!

How amazing and interesting is it when a storm starts brewing. For a split second you feel and hear the calmness all around you and a sense of eeriness takes over your body and your surroundings. Then the wind changes and picks up and the leaves start blowing in circles, Slowly on the ground first and then they lift and make colourful magic in the air. You then smell that fresh crisp smell of raindrops hitting the grass and hear the pitter patter on the rooftops. It then hits  harder and louder with big hard drops pounding their way onto the road and the trees until BOOM the first crack of thunder takes over the sky. Its so exciting. The way the lightning lights up the sky and puts on a show for all to see. The delicate strikes and the beautiful sheets creating a light show that can only be dreamed of. The loud claps and the deep rumbles of the thunder as it responds to the lightning create a performance far beyond imagination. And then if you are really lucky. CLAP...BANG...TING...the first signs of hail...and on Wednesday afternoon (My birthday) as I was mesmerised by the beautiful storm that was showing off for me the hail came hard and fast. I have not seen a hail storm like this in about 15 years. The balls were big and hard! Luckily Rob had come home early and had showed me the sky and explained how the cold air was moving in on the hot air and creating a cold front which showed in the sky where there was darkness with lighter streaks through the sky.,..confused...yep so was I but he was so excited watching it all happen and brew and was desperate for me to understand. Im getting there! So we had put both cars in and got the puppies inside! The hail was so amazing I was squealing like a little kid!  It was so loud it was scaring me a little but the scare just added to the feeling of excitement and inside my heart was pounding from adrenaline. Got to love Queensland and our summer storms.

It snowed on my 25th birthday ;) What a day!
