Bribie Island Christmas Camping

Beautiful Bribie! You are one of my favourite places in the world. I fell in love with Bribie last year when we took a day trip up there. Its only an hour and a half drive from our home yet it feels worlds away. Before the year was up we decided to camp there and spend some good quality time with our island! We went with our cousins and their 2 children and boy did we have a ball. Rob had to work on the Saturday so as soon as he was done we packed up and hit the road. We got there just as the sun was setting and the sky created a crystal blue and pink art piece. My heart was happy. I worked hard in 2012 and this mini break on our island was just what I needed!

We took the swag and decided to camp on the back of the ute. This would be my first swag camping on an island so I wasn't sure how I would go but I'm telling you this. DO IT! why be stuck in a stuffy feral tent when you can sleep under the stars and trees and really experience everything the island had to offer. This was my view as soon as I woke up! Oh hells yes it is absolutely worth it.

Rob even got breakfast in bed. Complete camping experience ;-)

Our days were spent on the beach. Swimming, playing, laughing, talking. Rob was in his element playing with the kids and teaching them all how to surf. I hadn't seen him laugh or smile like that in a long time. He loved being with the kids and kept making quiet comments to me saying how much fun he was having and the kids were 'champs'. This warmed my heart and its not a side of him I see very often.

Our nights were spent fishing on the beach, cooking up massive feasts and enjoying each others company! The days were beautiful but the nights were even better.

I had a few special moments on this camping trip. A week before we went away I got in a manual car and Rob gave me my first ever manual driving lesson. A week later I was on the beach and had my first beach driving experience. Ive never driven on the beach and I had only had 3 lessons with Rob before we went, so it was quite hilarious. I nailed it! I loved it. I am addicted! I loved it so much and I really got the hang of it fast. There was no 4WDing happening, just simple beach driving. It was awesome and I was very proud!

My super awesome driving instructor took a video of me driving.
Just to, you know, capture those special moments.

A massive massive thank you to C&D for an amazing couple of days away at our favourite island. Without you we couldn't of had the awesome time we did. After a massive year it was just watch we needed to rehcarge our batteries, clear our minds and sooth our souls.
